Massage therapy alone can have a positive effect on quality of life. We like to provide you with additional resources whenever possible to improve and extend the results of therapeutic massage. This might mean recommending a tool or stretch you can do at home to help reach your goals. After each session your massage therapist will talk with you about what they found and the goals they've created for you. This includes recommended frequency of sessions and projected time frame to reach your goals. You will usually receive homework which may include self-massage with a tennis ball, foam roller, or Thera Cane, and be given a stretching handout with highlighted stretches most appropriate for you.
We may send you a link to one of our articles (found here) about a subject that pertains to you. Educating yourself about your body and it's symptoms is time well spent. You are your own best advocate! Doctor's often don't know how to help if you don't fall into a "diagnosis". The more you learn, the better off you'll be. You don't have to live in pain.
When needed, we may recommend an outside professional whose services could benefit you in ways we can not. This might be a referral to a sports medicine doctor or physical therapist. A chiropractor or acupuncturist. Often adding yoga or a personal trainer to your lifestyle greatly improves massage therapy results.
